Nets and netting tools can be traced back into the Palaeolithic and are still made using similar techniques today. We will explore the evidence for nets in prehistory, compare ancient and modern tools, and learn how to set up a rectangular or round net before starting work on a natural fibre net bag to take home with you. All materials provided.

About the tutor: Sally is an experimental archaeologist and teacher of heritage crafts working with natural materials and techniques that can be traced back thousands of years. Your course will combine a detailed look at the archaeological evidence as well as a solid grounding in practical techniques, with plenty of scope to adapt the projects to suit your own interests as we go along.
